Why Strength Training?

Whether you are playing a sport, a weekend warrior, or gym-rat - you are an athlete. As such, a strength component is required to do your activity and why our visits consist of exercise and strength training. This is going to look very different from person to person and that is where our understanding of sports and biomechanics come into play. There are movements we should all be able to do as a part of life (think squat, hip hinge, overhead reach), but each individual will have specific movements to succeed in their activity. Therefore, strengthening both of these types of movements and being ble to get in and out of their respective ranges of motion is crucial to performance and why it is focused so heavily at APC.

What Does This Look Like?

The movements we put you through as rehabilitation depend on your complaint, ability, and activity. For example, if you are a marathon runner, we likely won't be tryinng to maximize how much weight you can back squat, but some form of a squat may be useful for your low back or knee pain! Throughout your exam at APC, we will find movements you are deficient in and which movements will be useful in decreasing pain (if any) or improving mobility and stability.
